Ajax Chat during 2010

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:06 am » It's been a pleasure, and could have gone on all day, happey to do it again at some point. I'll get more info on the Asp/Cuffs thing and start a thread next week. Have a good day, and thanks again

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:06 am » sure, well you have come onto the AJAX CHAT session and answered every single question fired in your direction TC, thank you very much for doing so and thank you for being a great member of the site. See you around the forums I am sure, CHEERS!!

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:05 am » I'm going to have to sign off, the wife is hassling me to go to her mums, and I've sold my car yesterday, so we have to walk!

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:05 am » I think it adds a more human approach to policing

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:04 am » I'm as happy giving someone directions to the job centre, as I am chasing a crim

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:04 am » hmmm that is a good reply, nice one

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:04 am » Yes, I suppose you could say it is true, however you dress it up, we are policing on the cheap, but I think it adds vastly to the police force (notice I put force, not service) with completely different types of people, from different backgrounds and different past careers, not all just stereo-type coppers. People who actally have time for the public, not just want to nick them

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:02 am » but isn't it simply true TC that PCSOs are a cheap version of PCs?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:02 am » I use a CS holder to hold my Surefire, I often notice people lookng at it

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:02 am » I think the public perception of us would improve if they could see cuffs hanging off our belts

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:02 am » yeah they could be useful and actually add some authority to the officer as well

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:01 am » Yes I know, and I think we should too, I'm sure we will in time

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:01 am » well some PCSOs do, quite a few actually, WALES, BTP to name but 2 forces

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:00 am » wrong turn of phrase, no, unfortunately not

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 11:00 am » you said "although never had to actually cuff myself" eeerrrr you don't have handcuffs do you TC?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 11:00 am » Well it was intended to be a warts and all, and that's what they didn't like about it.

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:59 am » that was absolutely hilarious that diary, real shame

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:59 am » I know my trainng sergeant used to come on here, although I've never worked out who he is, as he was the one that made me shut down my training diary, as it had been seen by him, and some people at Hendon, whooops!!!

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:58 am » correct at 01TW but we have both moved on 2 or 3 years ago

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:58 am » You used to work with him I believe?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:58 am » you said "although never had to actually cuff myself" eeerrrr you don't have handcuffs do you TC?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:57 am » he is actually a good friend of mine, hehe very nice fella to boot too

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:57 am » Sgt87 too, he gives a lot of good info

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:56 am » Oooh, difficult one that. I think probably overthinker, bigbruv and Catweazle

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:56 am » ok here's an easy one TC, who is your favourite member on the site?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:55 am » who knows? I've been involved in several incidents where I've assisted PCs in cuffing people, although never had to actually cuff myself, but who knows what might happen

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:54 am » a PCSO needs to know about cuffing and using an ASP during day to day operation?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:54 am » I assumed this what a Met wide policy, I'll ask that too, and start a thread about it.

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:54 am » There isn't a thread, I'll find out more tomorrow when I go back to work (been off all week). The training is purely in case it's needed in day to day operations

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:54 am » there must be discussion AT the OST training about WHY PCSOs receive cuffing/ ASP training TC

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:53 am » Hasten to all, all three of us come on this forum, elcapitan is one, don't know the user name of the other, he doesn't come on here as often

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:53 am » is there a thread on this? I'm gobsmacked, why bother training PCSOs on that?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:53 am » It's been like that for some time, apart from the three of us that started on our team at the same time, everyone else has already done it

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:52 am » Yes, when we do our on borough OST, they teach you how to cuff and how to use an asp, and other stuff as well I believe. Just in case you have to do it at some point when with a PC. Or if in the middle of a "bundle", an asp falls to the floor. There's always the chance. I think this should be part of the mandatory training.

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:52 am » so are you looking forward to your cuffing and ASP training TC? I can't see you getting it really

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:51 am » Some of my colleagues often say things like "It's pretty good money for what we do". I suppose you could say Fireman, nurses etc should get more. I wouldn't be a prison oficer for all the tea in China

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:50 am » PCSOs getting cuffing and Asp training? I can't see it TC? is this for real?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:50 am » well it's WAY OVER what new prison officers start on I can tell you that for definate!

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:49 am » Yes, I really think so. When you're 20, and all of a sudden you're earning £25K for what some see as just "walking around" it's quite an attractive draw. For myself with a wife, child and mortgage, it's not so good. I took a pay cut to do the job. But, for the first time in my life, I love going to work

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:48 am » especially the money? eh?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:48 am » As for training, I do think we should be taught more self defence, cuffing etc. I know when we do our Borough OST, they give us cuffing and Asp training, but I haven't had that yet. I would have liked to learn more about law too, which I have picked up along the way, a lot of it, thanks to this Forum I have to say

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:47 am » Exactly, I do think some are on a power trip, and especially the money. Some on my training, in fact most of them, had worked in shops previously, on about 12-14 grand, something like that, all of a sudden they are given a few powers, a uniform and £25K. There are at least 3 members of my STT team that are 19, and although they do act professionally on the street, I always look at them and think, no you shouldn't really be doing this

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:45 am » are you satisfied with the training that you have received as a PCSO?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:45 am » yeah and that is something the people under that age simply CANNOT ever appreciate until they get above that age

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:44 am » Yes definately, I think life experience plays a huge part. I often think that some of the PCSOs I come into contact with are far too young, and coppers for that matter. I really think the age should be 21

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:44 am » ah I do undertsand the problem hehe

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:43 am » I don't understand the problem, anyway TC you must find it a huge advantage being an older PCSO don't you?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:42 am » Yeah, great idea, I'll do that. Only thing is now, my team is the only PCSO team in our huge nick

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:41 am » please raise it in http://policecommunitysupportofficer.co ... um.php?f=5 and as for more members well yeah, I tell you what photocopying a page from the site and placing it in other PCSOs trays could be good what do you say?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:39 am » Oh can it, I'll have to do that then. Apart from that, its pretty much spot on

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:38 am » hehe the hour ahead thing can be changed BY YOU

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:38 am » I do like coming to the site, but I do get annoyed, and really have to bite my tongue from time to time. I can't really think of how it could be improved, although it would be nice to get some more members. The only thing that I think should be changed is the time, it's always an hour ahead!

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:36 am » sure is, so you obviously enjoy coming to the site quite a lot by the look of your profile!! how could the site be improved in your opinion?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:36 am » certainly do. I always say that, as I call them "uniformed social workers" are also part of the role, and that I am never critiising them for what they do, there is a part for that type of PCSO too

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:35 am » you are criticised because you get involved - well sod the criticism - all PCSOs ARE different, from what I see you certainly give value for money that's for sure

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:34 am » Of course not, everything I have commented on, Specials or otherwise, has been from my personal experience. I have realised that there are many different types, but I am critisised because I get involved, and do things that others deem "not in their remit"

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:33 am » your posts show more than anything that every PCSO out there is different, one is a stand back and report in PCSO - another is a lay hands on the bloke "I'm using my citizen's power of arrest" kind of guy and yet another PCSO is somewhere in the middle of these

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:33 am » well ok - I think we have all been there and seen it TC but that's not the whole story

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:32 am » I haven't had particularly good experience of them. I've had to get involved when a hole group have been standing around, not knowing what to do, including a sergeant, and had to tell them what to do, the list of experiences, all bad goes on and on. The way I look at it, whatever you do for a living, if you only do it for 16 hours a month, you're not going to be very good at it

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:31 am » Your crusade against specials on this site, has actually been a pleasure to view, not least for the fact that it has brought many many members to the immediate DEFENCE of specials!! it really has been amazing

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:31 am » yes I suppose so, I seem to make quite inocuous (spelt wrong) statements, and I am then jumped on. I don't hide my contempt for Specials, I would be lying if I said I liked them, or their role. Obviously it's nothing personal against them, just the role

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:30 am » well you inspire and hack other members off, in pretty much equal measure

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:29 am » I never set out to be, I just am honest, and I don't think many users think it's a pleasure. I guess you've seen the latest round of abuse, this time from PCSO Tristian

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:28 am » TC you have to be the most controversial PCSO that we have had the pleasure of seeing in years

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:28 am » Favourite colour is blue, although I support Arsenal for my sins. I think my thoughts on powers are well documented on here, but I think we should have more powers

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:27 am » hehe might as well get this out of the way early, what is your favourite colour and do you have any thoughts on PCSO POWERS?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:27 am » yellow

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:27 am » blimey that is crucial, red sauce or brown?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:26 am » bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, coffee and toast - the works

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:26 am » what did you have?

typecastboy « 21 Feb 2010 10:25 am » Morning Falkor, certainly have!

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 10:16 am » good morning TC had your breakfast yet?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:23 am » Thank you

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:23 am » okay I would like to thank you for coming onto the AJAX CHAT section Brian, although you do not agree with the PCSO role - you have been a long time member of this site, banned or not, you do have posts that are valid contributions

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:22 am » Same answer - I am not a PCSO

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:21 am » it's actually not the same question Brian

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:20 am » Why do you keep asking the same question?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:20 am » but you stated that you have no thoughts on PCSO POWERS, why did you say that?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:19 am » There is a difference between having thoughts on PCSO powers and being ANTI PCSO. How is this embarassing? I have never agreed with he role and again that is no secret.

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:18 am » oh dear Brian - this is pretty embarrassing, you are ANTI PCSO and that has been obvious all the times you were banned

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:17 am » You have lost me now

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:17 am » because you DO have thoughts on PCSO POWERS, we all know you do

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:16 am » Why are you asking the same question?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:16 am » Brian you don't have any thoughts on PCSO POWERS? is that true?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:16 am » Purple

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:15 am » what is your favourite colour?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:14 am » blimmen heck Brian what do I have to do to get you to TALK? getting blood out of a stone would be easier

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:13 am » I don't have any thoughts on their powers, I am not a PCSO

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:12 am » as usual you are being very tight lipped, maybe it's just you, what are your thoughts on PCSO POWERS?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:11 am » I am waiting on some decent questions

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:11 am » come on Brian - have you got ANYTHING to say for this "chat" ?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:10 am » hmmmmm ok

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:10 am » See previous answer, I like to keep in touch with what's happening

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:10 am » must be totally cheesing off to get banned

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:09 am » yes I'm not have a go Brian I am actually saying ...... you RETURNED all those times, WHY?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:09 am » You are the administrator...

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:08 am » come on 10, 20 give us a rough round up

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:08 am » No idea

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:08 am » Brian how many times did you get banned from this site?

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:07 am » I have many

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:07 am » yeah but you have a view Brian

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:07 am » I have no idea

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:06 am » Brian how do you see the future of PCSOs panning out?

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:06 am » Baron that's a tenner you owe me

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:06 am » It's no secret...

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:06 am » so the truth comes out at last

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:05 am » hahahaha I knew it

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:05 am » Yes

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:05 am » come on Brian, are you a PC in Scotland? SPILL SPILL

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:04 am » No, I joined because I like to kee in touch with what's going on in the Police world

brianb « 21 Feb 2010 08:03 am » Yep

falkor « 21 Feb 2010 08:02 am » with almost 1000 posts on this site Brian you have got to know us pretty well
