hi all just another new applicant worring about the process of joining the cpso.
physical fitness test
do you need to be able to run a mile ? do 20 pushups?not wear glasses and be clean shaven
how far does the daily walk take and are you expected to do so on the first day or is there a gradual build up to walking these long daily marathons?
Is there a height restriction or are vertically challenged people ok to join? |

Hi Newey,
All I can say is just dont worry. There are no restrictions on height etc, I had sight and hearing tests, chest examination, inhale / exhale tests. After that I was asked questions about my general health / was I a smoker etc.
I did not have anything really physical to do. Just as well, running anything over ten metres, and I would collapse.
I certainly didnt get slowly broken in to the long walking etc., so I think you can forget that one.
Anyway Newey, welcome, and good luck to you. _________________ LIVE WELL, DIE WELL |

the physical tests seem to depend on which force you apply to,but the majority seem to do the bleep test to level 5.4,push/pull average of 35kgs if you look on your chosen forces website your get a idea of whats required,if you do have to do the bleep test my advice is to download a copy and practice as much as poss.
good luck |

Hi Newey,
You will be working for the Police, but also work alongside members of the District / County Councils, and other organisations that are relevant to our role. _________________ LIVE WELL, DIE WELL |

|

I passed my fitness test to become a PCSO for the Met, on the 7th April (Yipee!!!), and I am now awaiting a date to begin my training etc.
I have to say personally I found the bleep test (to level 5.4)..well what can I say..a challange ;-/, I did not find the running easy, and I had to do a lot of training to get my self up to the standard, as I have never found running a joy, but I spent hours upon hours in the gym, and I also managed to down load a copie of the bleep test, and I used to go up my local park with the bleep test on my phone and run it, but thankfully I have now passed!!!.
Most people seem to find the fitness test not to bad, but as I say I did have to work at it, but I have to say it was worth it , as hearing the words 'you've passed'..was music to my ears after all the hours training I put into it.
I didn't find the weights to bad really. The best of luck.

Hello Lankylil,
Very best of luck with your interview, you'll do great I'm sure . If you have any probs getting the bleep test, let me know and I will try and get you a copie of the one I used.
Best of luck again.
