A discussion came up recently that got me thinking. What did we all do before joining the police service/force (take your pick) in whatever capacity?

I did a few months in a building society before I joined up.

Anyone else?

Airport security, got to say a very good job. When its comes to searching people airport security wins hands down. I cant go into everything but you are trained constantly and watched day in day out and tested. The police at the airport said "your searching is tops" and the training we went through and every few months was great. Do i miss it, yes i do sometimes but i also love my job now. The airport enviroment is very different from the streets but is a good one. The pcso role is also great which is why i went for it after the airport police talked me into it. Last year i had to do some shifts up at the airport as a pcso and it was great seeing all my old friends again but in a different uniform. Smile

(plenty of drink ups also). Smile

I worked for over 7 years as a Civil Servant, first at the Foreign Office (including a posting in Amman, Jordan), then the Home Office. At the Home Office I presented cases in immigration court for the government against overstayers, illegals etc - soul destroying work!
Apart from that, I have been a Manager at the Tower of London and at the Design Museum, and have worked for the House of Commons in the Serjeant at Arms dep....
hey, I like variety!

I was an interpreter for the deaf, mainly in education, also teaching maths and english to the deaf. Went into Primary schools and high schools and taught sign langauage to hearing students.

Also lucky enough to work part time for the Walt disney company, which means plenty of cheap trips to Florida!!
