Denwar

As have said several times on this forum we in South Yorkshire have had PCSO Supervisors from the start.

The basic ratio is 1 Supervisor per 6 PCSOs. expect this will change as numbers increase.

As Supervisor at Sheffield Central I am responsible for 7 staff and perform similar duties to a PS but with more management responsibility as I tend to deal directly with senior officers in terms of running the team and tasking priorities.

Our Area Commander has said no to Supervisors.
Allthough when we first started it was suggested that they would be in place by early next year.
Not for me though. I wouldn"tb mind a bit of tutoring...
Jeff.

It would possily work
but

If in the MET we are rolling out all those SNT where would the PCSO supervisors go ? ( SNT = 1xPS 2xPC 3(or4)xPCSO)

As all the new PCSO in our borough go straight onto one of these teams .

So who would they supervise

Our PCSo supervisors/co-ordinators is an APS! I do think that this works much better than a PCSO telling other PCSOs what to do! Especially when you see some of the dregs of the earth that manage to find themselves in this job!

We had a vote here in Avon and Somerset and it was agreed to not have supervisors.

We have been told there will be PCSO Team Leaders in 2006 and they could even lead a team of Neighbourhood Policing Teams, along with a Super PC..... how's about that then?.......... exciting times ahead for us Razz
